This blog is basically a diary, journal, and notes of observations. It deals mostly with the topics of special needs, especially a real view of what life is like with (and for) a teen with Down syndrome. Additional topics are interpersonal relationships, life in Israel, and dieting. Also an occaisional get-on-a-soapbox-and-tell-it-like-it-is personal opinion.
Who am I?

I am a parent,of teens and teens+, including a "special-needs" child of fifteen. I have worked as a nurse (mostly in psychiatry),and am grossly overweight (and detirmined to change that!). I am an American living in Israel at present. I am addicted to reading, and love music, writing, and the observing G-d's world. The wings I feel that I am under are the sheltering wings of G-d. I am an observant Jew.
"Ricki", my daughter(age 15), has Down syndrome, ADHD, moderate hearing loss(compensated with a hearing aid), and a very spunkey personality.
Alpine flowers survive in the cold tundra climate. "Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "Tomorrow I will try again".

Beautiful, I love the expression on her face! And from the 2nd picture, I'd have been in awe too, I can only imagine what it looked like in real life!
Wonderful that you captured that moment!
Beautiful picture - aptly named.
What a great moment to get on film! Great shots!
Oh, I can see her awe, and feel the same way each time I see a waterfall. Wonderful moment captured.
Beautiful shot of her..she's more breathtaking than the waterfall :)
That is a great picture!
What are those string things behind her neck?
The strings is the handle-strap of a crochetted purse, knotted to make it a bit shorter.....
Thanks to all who visited... I don't have time to go check out all of your blogs! SORRY!
